The Vibe

Diginomad Retreats was created by Joshua, a digital nomad who fell in love with Cape Town and wanted to create a premium coliving space that catered to the digital nomad. Hotels are too expensive, hostels don’t offer the privacy and ‘hominess’ you’d want to live in for a few weeks or months. Airbnbs can be affordable, but only offer basic amenities, particularly in the kitchcn with only a few dishes and utensils; and lack any socialization with others. Thus, Diginomad Retreats was born!

While we offer daily rates, we have long-stay discounts (from 5% to 30% - see FAQs for details. Full buy-out private options for any duration are available; please inquire here. Guests are primarily digital nomads or those who consider themselves a traveller versus a tourist; often working remotely while they’re in Cape Town. It’s about really embracing the local culture and flavors with like-minded people from across the globe.

The property is very tech-forward, a requirement for digital nomads who still work while here, so connectivity will never be an issue with 7 hard-wired routers throughout the house and electricity supplemented with solar (2 batteries) and each room is accessible via a code (thumbprint access or fob/key is also available).  One of the greatest amenities is the kitchen area, which has nearly every appliance or utensil you can think of such as an air fryer, Sodastream, ice maker, ice crusher, food vacuum sealer and dishwasher as well as a shared cabinet of spices and ingredients. While we have an extensive amount of cookware and plateware to easily host 16 people, we also have separate plasticware for the beach or camping.  The lobby cabinets have a variety of items of use for camping (hammocks, dry bags, solar charger), river floats, work out equipment, and we even have an iron, specifically for the crafting of costumes for music festivals. You can view a list of all amenities here. If there’s something missing that you think we need, please suggest it!

Naison Sarumba - House Manager

One of the best features of this co-living retreat is the full-time house manager, Naison, who will be on property during the week from 8am-5pm to keep the shared spaces clean and tidy as well as be a resource for guests. Each room will be cleaned weekly;  along with a change of your bedding and towels. Should you wish for these items to be cleaned more frequently, this can be arranged at a cost. A washer and dryer (with detergents) are available for your personal laundry between 10am-10pm daily.

Each room can also schedule up to 3 hours per week of assistance from Naison such as errand-running, grocery shopping, ironing, etc. (within the Cape Town city limits). Should you need additional assistance, such as hiring a driver for a longer trip or renting a car for a road-trip, this can be arranged.  Each room has complimentary access to an instructor-led fitness/yoga class 3 times per week at the Soul Fit Studio just 250m away. We will occasionally have classes on the property as well, however should you wish to enjoy other fitness-related classes, we have discounts at nearby facilities and other preferred partners such as dentists, doctors or cosmetic dermatologists. We’ll also have frequent braais from December through May, but residents are always welcome to use the facilities for entertaining. Perhaps ending the night on the front lawn with a movie on the projector?

As a co-living community, all guests should respect one another and keep the shared spaces clean and void of personal items when not in use. Like most other accommodations, we are non-smoking inside and have quiet hours between 10pm-7am daily. Any off-property guests need to be escorted on and off the property. We actively recycle, watch our water/electricity usage and have a “leave it better than you found it” mentality with the property and “treat others as you wish to be treated” with others staying at our digital nomad retreat. If these mantras don’t resonate with you, this retreat is unlikely a good fit. With any questions, please visit our FAQs.
